Crisp edges for perfect balance

Figure skating is all about the edge of a 4mm wide blade.

We have designed our boots to maximize the feel of the edges and give the ultimate in performance.

Four elements combine to deliver this excellence.

Responsive footbed

A perfect combination of design and materials, increases direct force transmission and shortens response time.

The foot needs a stable, solid and secure base and the skater needs efficient transmission of power.
For these reasons we created an innovative footbed/sole with honeycomb structure to give lightness and performance.

By using a combination of nylon and fiber materials the lightness has been given strength and the transmission of power increased giving greater sensitivity and control.
The advances in design and materials means not only stronger and lighter but thinner with a lower center of gravity.

Thin sole for a lowered center of gravity

Stronger, lighter, thinner.

The thinner sole also results in a lower centre of gravity. A small change but a massive improvement.
Experience a quicker change of edge, a more solid landing and overall increased stability with Edea’s super strong thinner sole. A millimeter less for the sole means more power transmission, quicker response time, less vibrations and better contact with the ice. Feel the speed.

Arched heel for improved thrust

The improved heel design increases thrust transmission by distributing the power over a longer axis directing more power to the edge of the blade.

Edea were inspired by Roman aqueducts whose arches have stood the test of time.

A long arch distributes weight more uniformly spreading the load. Edea’s longer heel supports the skater over up to half the length of the foot which increases the feel of the boot.
This is very noticeable in the execution of spins, steps sequences and in the landing of jumps where stability gives greater control over the blade’s edge, allowing quicker, smoother transitions.

Formed structure for improved foot adhesion and proper alignment

The anatomical shape of the boot structure gives optimal lateral support, maintains the correct ankle/knee/hip alignment and allows a great frontal flexibility thanks to the tongue construction.

This design innovation means that the foot remains secure and stable in the skate while offering the skater a wider range of motion than a traditional boot. This means there is no need to strangle the foot with the laces, so lacing super tight just to feel extra secure and stable is now a thing of the past.
In order to form this new shape directly in the structure of the boot, we use particular thermoformable materials. That is, materials that are shaped with heat and are set with cold.
They absorb and cushion upon impact, are flexible, durable, and offer increased resistance to deformation.
To fill in any gaps and avoid pressure points (especially on the ankle), we insert high memory paddings, meaning they offer a quick return when pressure is exerted. For this reason, our boots do not need to be heated or shaped to be worn. They are designed to be ready to go from the moment they come out of the box!
