Liam Firus for Edea Skates: what motivates you to train hard every day?

How did you first get started in skating, who was you inspiration?
I first started figure skating when I was 9 years old. I used to be a hockey player and started figure skating to improve my speed and balance. Stephane Lambiel has always been my favourite skater, he is always inspiring to watch.

What motivates you to train hard every day?

My motivation each day comes from my desire to be the best skater I can possibly which hopefully will inspire others.

What do you think about in the few second before the music starts at a competition?
I think about how lucky I am to compete at such a high level and how much I enjoy it.

What do you remember about your first competition?
My first competition I came last. But, I was back at the rink that same day training to get better.

What and when do you eat before a competition?
I eat a salad with chicken, a banana with peanut butter, and a coffee.

Where’s your favourite city?
My favourite city is London, England because there are so many things to do and so much culture.

Which is your favorite ice rink ?
My favourite Ice rink is In Victoria, British Columbia, Canada because I competed my first senior nationals there and skated great!

What’s your new years resolution?
My new years resolution is to drink a gallon of water every day! and to learn how to play the guitar.

Why did you choose Concerto, what makes them such a great skate?
I chose the concerto because I saw many of my competitors wearing them. They are so comfortable! I love how light they are; they give me great support for all of my jumps.
